Interview: yung marq
“I’m a kid from Atlanta. Known for being ‘different’ or weird, I always felt like I never fit in anywhere. I use music as a way to express myself. My music is meant to connect others like me with something that they can consume and enjoy so they don’t feel alone like I did. With high-energy beats and a vibe that is extremely infectious, Yung Marq songs are guarding to get any function jumping.”
Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
I’m from Atlanta. Everybody knows everybody here. We have a very exciting underground scene in which the artists are usually always connected to the mainstream somehow. It’s great. It gives me hope that I myself can get to where I want to be because I’ve seen some people I knew as a kid enter the industry and kill it. I can’t wait to go back to concerts and have some of my own. Everybody here is so supportive.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Playboi Carti, Travis Scott
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
My music is directly related to my life, emotion, and experiences. I love it. It’s a hard life right now, but I’ve been told without pain, art wouldn’t be the same; or at least as good as it is.
